Los Quetzales
Oak forests in the Talamanca mountains, at almost 3,000 metres, the best place to see the quetzal: the green bird with the long tail, easiest from November to April.
Tip: Go at sunrise with a lodge's guide: they know which wild avocado tree it feeds at.
